Beit Guvrin is one of the most impressive national parks in the country and is also a UNESCO world heritage site. The park consists of about 11 + caves , all varied in shapes sizes and color. There is also an Amphitheatre, Roman Bath and Crusader Fortress on the other side of the park. Most people feel that one visit to Beit Guvrin is not enough.and that it is difficult to see everything in one day. The site is about 5km in length and therefore it is advisable to drive between the caves, especially on a hot day.
Some of the caves are breathtaking, particularly the Bell Caves. Some are super fun to explore (cave 7 was my favorite) and some your kids will not want to leave (number 8 kept them busy for 20 minutes). My favorite part of the park was the Gladiator Amphitheatre. Much of it remains from the 2nd century and they have added explanations and models of gladiators and kings and queens. Beit Guvrin is steeped in history. Finding a knowledgeable guide to accompany you to this site would make the day extra special although you can also go without one. Try going on a weekday if possible. You may have the caves all to yourselves !! This national park needs booking. To book click here
