In the heart of Mitzpe Ramon lies the Colored Sand site, also known as the Stone Wind and Water site. In this old quarry, one is invited to bring small glass bottles and fill them with colorful sand, to make beautiful patterns. The colors of the sands are made from various minerals found in the crater namely Copper , Iron and Sulfur. Many different colors of sand can be found here including red, yellow, brown, green and purple sand. At this site there is also a water hole, that gets refilled with rain water every winter. One can enter the water, but its not advised to let any water enter your mouth.
This site is not to be be confused with the Colored Sand Site in Yeruham
